V Festival 2017 Line Up to be announced next week

The V Festival 2017 line up is to be announced next week. The rumour is Ed Shearin and ,mumford and sons are to headline.

The headline acts for this year’s V Festival will be revealed next week.

The organisers have just announced that that they’ll be releasing details of the big names between February 27 – March 5.

This comes just after it was revealed that Pete Tong is the first act confirmed for V 2017.

Legendary DJ Pete Tong will be performing a set at the festival, which takes place from August 19-20 in Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park in Staffordshire.

The Radio One star tweeted on Tuesday (February 21) that he’ll be bringing his Ibiza Classics set to V Festival this year, where he’s thought to be playing the Dance Tent.

Rumours have been flying around over the last few weeks about who the main headliners will be. Speculation has mainly focused on band and artists who have albums out this year and who could be doing the festival rounds, including the likes of Ed Sheeran, The Killers, The Kaiser Chiefs and Craig David.

The last few years have seen huge American acts headline the main stage including Justin Bieber and Rihanna in 2016, Justin Timberlake in 2014 and Beyonce in 2013. V Festival organisers are sure to have tried to secure another massive name from the US for this year but there’s only rumours for now on who that might be. Some of the most popular acts which whose names keep popping up include Drake, Lady Gaga, The Foo Fighters, Eminem and Mary J Blige?

Crowds at V Festival 2017

The only big acts we can probably rule out are those already confirmed to headline other festivals like Radiohead (Glastonbury), Muse and Kasabian (Reading), Justin Bieber (Hyde Park) and Run DMC (Isle of Wight).

Tickets are also expected to go on sale very soon. Last year there was an exclusive pre-sale for Chelmsford residents who lived within a three-mile radius of Hylands Park on February 25, with general ticket sales starting the day after on February 26. Chelmsford music fans are hoping for a similar pre-sale this year allowing them a better chance of grabbing the first few tickets.

The Kaiser Chiefs perform at V 2016

V Festival 2016 was one of the most talked about in the event’s history, largely due to American megastars Justin Bieber and Rihanna. Unfortunately Justin’s gig was marred by the weather when strong winds meant he had to cancel a waterfall feature on stage, and festival-goers also accused him of miming.

Other acts which made waves in 2016 were Sia, David Guetta, Little Mix, Example, Jess Glynne, Years & Years, Faithless, Tinie Tempah, DJ EZ and Craig David’s TS5.

Hard Rock Giving Chances for global fame with battle of bands

Hard Rock Hard Rock International continues its commitment to emerging musicians of tomorrow with this year’s Hard Rock Rising, the world’s largest and most far-reaching battle of the bands competition. Hard Rock Rising supports the musical careers of aspiring artists around the globe by giving one local band the opportunity of a lifetime – participate in a World Tour at Hard Rock Cafe locations, film a music video, record an album with Hard Rock Records and receive the equivalent of $10,000 in new gear.

“Hard Rock is eager to uncover another pool of budding talent and provide them with an international stage to showcase their talents,” said John Kirkpatrick, Head of Music & Artist Relations, Hard Rock International. “More than 12,000 bands entered Hard Rock Rising and nearly one million votes were cast by fans around the globe in 2012 – we hope the continued success of this programme will catapult an emerging band to success and introduce their sound to Hard Rock’s worldwide audience.”

Hard Rock, in partnership with online music services company ReverbNation, is hosting an open registration for bands wishing to participate in the global battle until Monday, January 21 2013. This will be the second year that Hard Rock has partnered with ReverbNation.

“The influence of Hard Rock’s iconic brand – fused with ReverbNation’s extensive network of over 2.4 million artists in 250 countries worldwide – is a match made in rock and roll heaven,” said Mike Doernberg, CEO and Co-founder of ReverbNation. “We’re looking forward to once again helping to create breaks for aspiring artists around the globe.”

New Year Sales Have Started

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day saw year-on-year increases of 86% and 71% respectively in the number of visits to online retailers, but this dropped to just 17% on Boxing Day.
Customers were becoming savvier in their tactics and hunting out the bargains earlier than ever online, analysts said.
Britons still made a record 113 million visits to retail sites on Boxing Day, making it the busiest online shopping day in UK history, but after predictions of 126 million the performance was described as “slightly muted and not as prolific as forecast”.
James Murray, digital insight manager at Experian, said: “The UK ‘sales creep’ continues to advance so that now the post-Christmas sales are starting before Christmas.
“Five years ago we called it the January sales, before it became the Boxing Day sales, now retailers have to call it the winter sales as discounting starts earlier to encourage higher spending.”

Boxing Day Sales

The crowds were even bigger in the West End of London, where an estimated 800,000 shoppers – buoyed by an influx of high-spending Chinese shoppers – joined the hunt for bargains in famous stores such as Harrods, Selfridges and Liberty. More than 2,500 people queued round the block to be first into Selfridges on Oxford Street, which was offering discounts of up to 75% on designer labels such as Alexander McQueen, Prada, Céline and Yves Saint Laurent. In the first hour of trading, sales had reached £1.5m, putting Selfridges on course for record takings at its four UK stores. The New West End Company, which represents retailers in the major shopping district, predicted £50m would be taken over the course of the day.

With its “never knowingly undersold” policy, John Lewis is forced to cut prices to match deals in competitors’ stores, but Street suggested there had been less discounting before Christmas: “Never knowingly undersold always costs us but I can say categorically it has not cost us more this year. Our discounting is in response to others so I think there was less.”

With the internet casting a bigger and bigger shadow over the high street, retailers are reporting huge increases in online sales this year as widespread ownership of tablets and smartphones changes the way Britons shop. John Lewis said that in the weeks before Christmas a third of its sales were logged via its website while on Christmas Day the number of visitors increased 24%.

Jeremy Fennell, the head of e-commerce at Currys and PC World, also reported a huge spike in traffic, with a 50% increase in visitors to its websites on Christmas Day (although shopping peaked between 7pm and 8pm suggesting Britons logged off to enjoy the EastEnders and Downton Abbey Christmas specials). “We are seeing more customers hitting our sites to take advantage of the top sale offers. However, we still expect high footfall in stores from Boxing Day onwards,” said Fennell.
New Year Sales

While thousands of shoppers queued outside stores up and down the country to get ahead of the game, millions more made the most of tumbling prices from the comfort of their own homes.

Fears of consumers tightening their belts in the face of tough economic conditions were quickly shelved, with an estimated 10 million shoppers believed to have spent about £2.9bn.

Britons spent 14 million hours trawling websites yesterday, paying around 113 million visits to online retailers on what became the UK’s biggest day for internet shopping, analysts said.

Web sales were up by 17% on Boxing Day last year, according to market data firm Experian.

Figures were slightly lower than the 126 million online visits predicted for Boxing Day, something experts attributed to a “sales creep” which saw retailers begin to slash prices before Christmas.

James Murray, digital insight manager at Experian, said: “Boxing Day set a new British record for online shopping with 113 million visits going to retail websites in a single day.

“However, with a number of the major retailers bringing their sales forward to Christmas Eve, the impact of that was that Boxing Day was slightly muted and not as prolific as we forecast.

End of Year Sales start on Christmas Day

Forget Boxing Day, the sales are on now. Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Currys/PC World have forgone tradition and will start their sales on Monday.
M&S began its online sale at noon on Christmas Eve, John Lewis kicked off its sale at 5pm and Currys/PC World at 7pm. M&S has even bought the “Christmas Eve sales” search terms on Google in an attempt to attract shoppers.
The dash for bargains will continue on Christmas Day, with online retailers predicting a record 82m visits, a 32% increase on last year, according to Experian. Amazon will begin its sale a day earlier than normal on Christmas Day at 9am.
The last-minute dash to the high street is also expected to be much busier than in previous years. Many consumers were unable to finish all their shopping on 23 December – normally the busiest Christmas shopping day – because of Sunday trading laws limiting shops to just six hours trading.
To get round the ban M&S reopened more than 60 of its stores to allow customers to buy up essentials before Monday’s crush of last-minute panic buyers.

Christmas Day Sales

M&S and John Lewis will today take the unprecedented step of shifting their online sales forward to Christmas Eve as competition among retailers intensifies.
Online sales have crept forward in recent years as the number of consumers searching for bargains over Christmas has exploded.
Christmas Day has been the main battleground in recent years but this year M&S will begin discounting at midday today.
It has bought “Christmas Eve sales” search advertising slots on Google in an attempt to draw online consumers along with an array of other terms shoppers are likely to be searching for today.
John Lewis, meanwhile, will start its online sale at 5pm today while Currys/PC World will follow at 7pm.

Christmas Day Sales

The traditional Boxing Day sales have been brought forward to Christmas Eve as dozens of retailers seek to out-do each other and win customers’ hard-earned cash.

Last-minute bargain hunters will be able to cash in on internet sales from noon as online retailers slash their prices earlier than usual.

The Marks & Spencer online sale sale begins at noon today, with John Lewis following suit at 5pm and Currys/PC World at 7pm, the Daily Mail said.

Online giant Amazon will start is sale on Christmas morning, a day earlier than usual.

High street retailers were hampered yesterday as Sunday trading laws restricted them to opening for just six hours.

Supermarkets, shopping centres and high streets up and down the country were crammed with people on the last few trading days before Christmas.
