Joe Calzaghe increased his legendary status by putting on one of his best ever displays against the great Roy Jones Jr at Madison Square Garden in New York in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The fight did not start well for Calzaghe as he was floored in the first round by a Jones right hand but after this Calzaghe controlled the fight.
The Welsh Blaster opened a cut over Jones’ left eye in the 7th and it meant that Roy Jones was hanging on until the end the fight. The points decision was all in favour of Calzazghe 118 to 109.

Calzaghe did not go looking for the KO as he did in other fights like vs Jeff Lacy , and in the last round, he seemed to back off going for the knock out punches, instead he did a bit fo showboating including a odd Celtic Jig :)
The stats revealed that Calzaghe threw 985 punches to Jones’ 475, landing with 35% to Jones’ 33%, and was just about the story of the fight.
So what next fo Calzaghe he told setanta Sports

“I just need to sit down and think about it now. I’ve not a made a final decision but it could be my last fight. I’ll sit down and evaluate the situation and I thank Roy for fighting me, we did this ourselves.
“I’m not sure about my future. I’ll talk about it with my family and see how I feel. If I feel good, I’ll fight on. If I don’t feel good, I won’t fight anymore.
