The Specials are to play the 10th Anniversary of the Teenage Cancer Trust Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 29 March 2010 is the Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig featuring ska legends The Specials. NME has today announced that The Specials will be given the Outstanding Contribution award on 24 February at London’s Iconic O2 Academy Brixton. In recognition of Teenage Cancer Trust’s link with the British Music Industry and work with young people with cancer, NME has renamed the award the Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution. The Specials is an English two-tone ska revival band which was formed in 1977.

The Specials have been named as winners of the NME Outstanding Contribution Award in association with the Trust so it seems fitting they will bring ‘Rat Race’, ‘Ghost Town’ and ‘Gangsters’ to this very special fund-raiser. Their 30th Anniversary Tour all but sold out
