The Police will attend the Isle of Wight Festival, so what you might think, but this Police is the reformed 80s supergroup The Police headed by Sting. The Police will close the 7th Isle of Wight Festival on 15th June 2008 in front of over 50,000 at the Best Major Festival in the UK according to the UK Festival Awards.

Festival Promoter John Giddings confirmed The Police will headline Sunday night and bring 2008’s Festival to a close, “It’s a coup to get The Police for the Festival, we’re very happy to have the biggest tour of the last two years stopping by the Isle of Wight.”

The original anarchy in the UK punk rockers the Sex Pistols are to headline the Isle of Wight Festival 2008 on the Saturday of the three day Festival. Isle of Wight Festival is taking place on the 13th, 14th & 15th June 2008.

When do Isle of Wight Festival tickets go on sale? They go on sale at 9am on 10th December 2007.

Liverpool Music Week kicks off next Thursday with 2 almighty launch parties at New Young Pony Club kick off the celebrations on The indie/electronic band from London have received rave reviews off the back of their tour with Lily Allen and at this years Creamfields festival and has marked them as one of 2007’s most talked about must hear, must see bands.   They will be supported by Ezra Band & Hot Machine and local band Delta Fiasco who recently took the roof off a sell out gig at Korova.    

The Blissfields festival recently  voted the best small music festival in the UK Festival Awards is on the move.  The festival is moving to the bigger Matterley Bowl site near Winchester in 2008.  
The Matterley Bowl has played host to huge festivals such as homelands in the past,  but the blissfields festival will be a maximum 5000 capacity,  which is up from their 1000 in 2007.

Matterley landowner Peveril Bruce has permission to run several small-scale events on his land. The 5,000 limit on Blissfields means that the organisers do not have to submit a licensing application.

The Blissfields festival is likely to have a campsite and stages on the same site,  the Blissfields festival is scheduled for  July 4-6 2008

Iron Maiden have announced  that they will play their first ever stadium concert in the UK as part of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008.  Amazingly they have never play a huge open air arena,  although they have of course played outdoor festivals such as Donington and Reading Festival in the past. 
Iron Maiden will play at Twickenham on Saturday 5th July 2008,  50,000 rockers will be able to enjoy their only live date in the UK in 2008.

The Foo Fighters are set to play their biggest concert in the UK yet.   The Foo Fighters are to play wembley stadium on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th 2008.   Foo Fighters Tickets went on sale on 23rd November 2007 and sold out within 10 minutes of going on sale.

Ireland’s number one festival Oxegen returns again in 2008 and for three days.   The Oxegen Festival takes place from  Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July 2008.  Once again it will take place at the  Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare

Oxegen Tickets go on sale from Friday 30th November 2007.   They will be priced at 2007 prices at €197.50, and if you book 4 tickets you get free parking.

The Campsite opens on Thursday,  but you will need to purchase a Thursday Camping Ticket for €20 and there is a choice between campsite red and campsite blue.

The line up is due to be announced in Febuary 2008,  but it is expected to have some of the worlds tops acts performing.
