The face of the Faces and tiny tartan-terror, Rod Stewart has announced seven dates for the UK and Ireland next year, his first tour for five years. It was rumoured that Stewart may have appeared with his first band, The Faces, during their UK tour but these solo stints may have put paid to that.
His tour takes in Dublin (O2) on May 11th, Belfast (Odyssey) 15th, Newcastle (Metro) 18th, Nottingham (Arena) 20th, Birmingham (NIA) 22nd, Manchester (MEN) 26th and finally London’s O2 Arena on the 29th. Let’s hope the tubes are running properly for that last night – it’s gonna be a sell-out!
Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday at 9AM for the London, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle dates, Friday 27th at 9am for the remainder, starting at £60 for all
Rod Stewart has been at the forefront of musical performance since the late 60s with his debut album, “An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down” (how true in Britain!) but he had some modest success with the Jeff Beck Group and The Faces prior to this. But it has been his massive solo single hits like “You Wear It Well”, “Sailing”, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” and the still-excellent, “Maggie May” that have had women swooning every time he stroked his barnet and men envious of his lifestyle and gaggle of adoring girls. He has recently celebrated successes with the ‘Great American Songbook’ album series. Now seems a good time to re-visit the man who really does still ‘wear it well’.
Rod Stewart has announced a seven-date UK and Irish arena tour in spring 2010 – his first in five years.
The singer will hit the road for a series of shows kicking off at the Dublin O2 on May 11. The jaunt will also take in a date at London’s O2 Arena.
The newly-announced tour casts doubt on the likelihood that Stewart will team up with his old band Faces. Keyboardist Ian McLagan has already admitted that they may hit the road in 2010 without him.
Rod Stewart returned this week with his new studio album Soulbook, which charted at No.4 in the U.S. and No.10 in the UK. It’s his seventh UK Top Ten LP this decade.

The album features stunning interpretations of 60s/70s soul classics and includes superstar duets with Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson.

Rod along with Robbie Williams is the only solo artist to have 5 platinum albums in the UK this decade. With 250 million album and single sales, Rod has now notched up 27 UK Top Ten albums, making him one of the most successful performers of all time. Buy Rod Stewart Tickets
