While Spike Island was regarded as less than perfect, they nailed it at Glasgow Green. John Robb, author of The Stone Roses and the Resurrection of British Pop, wrote: “On June 9, the Roses played Glasgow Green, a show that was for many perhaps their finest live performance.

“The show was a killer – it was blistering and it was loud.”

Recalling the gig, Ian Brown said: “It was in a marquee and it was like a sauna with 9000 people inside. Yet, despite being a big show, it’s the most intimate one we’ve done.”

Mani added: “I will forever remember that night, it was one moment when something special happened, where we took a nation to our hearts and they took us to theirs.” Last night, The View’s manager Brendan Moon said the band were stunned by the news.
He added: “They are massive Roses fans and this is an amazing opportunity.” Demand for tickets is likely to be intense.

The band entered the Guinness Book of Records this summer for the fastest-selling UK dates in history when they sold 220,000 tickets for three dates at Manchester’s Heaton Park. The Roses have also lined up two London shows at Finsbury Park on June 7 and 8.
