Fatboy Slim is the first headliner to be announced for the 02 Wireless festival at London’s Hyde Park.
His support on 5 July will be provided by club legends Underworld and chart-topping Brit nominee Mark Ronson.

The Brighton-based DJ and producer – real name Norman Cook – told Radio 1 Newsbeat he’s excited.

He said: “It’s nice because you feel like the pinnacle of it. But there’s a lot of pressure.”

Visually astounding

Cook has also pledged to outdo his Glastonbury headline set of three years ago when he performed in front of a huge ghetto blaster on the Other Stage.

He said: “We’re still planning it but I can’t say what we’re going to do.

“I’m still just playing records, so I can’t really up my game and play better records, ’cause I try to play the best anyway. In a club, you can just rock it but here, all we can do is make it look spectacular. Which is what we’re working on.

“All we can do is make it visually astounding and we’re in the planning stages of doing something quite visually stunning.”

As one of the world’s biggest ’superstar DJs’, he admits the days of being able to show up carrying only his record box are over.

He said: “It can’t just be about you and the decks, especially when you’re playing somewhere like Hyde Park.

“In a club, you can just rock it but here all we can do is make it look spectacular, which is what we’re working on.”

Sunday night at O2 Wireless Festival looks set to be a stormer as some of the worlds most loved bands take to the stage.

COUNTING CROWS are a global phenomenon with a host of multiple platinum albums and Top 10 chart placings worldwide. From initial hit single, ‘Mr.Jones’ to 2005’s ‘Accidentally In Love’ from the Shrek 2 soundtrack which saw the Californian band perform at the Academy Awards, Counting Crows have been a huge presence in the music world. This show will be the band’s only UK festival performance in 2008.

In addition to this, we are delighted to confirm that BEN HARPER and The Innocent Criminals will be bringing their brand of stunning musicianship and lyricism to the stage on Sunday.

And if that weren’t enough, we can also confirm that POWDERFINGER – massive in Australia, and now globally reknowned with their “Mission:Impossible” soundtrack, are also set at the head of the bill on Sunday.

With the addition of these amazing US and Australian special guests, all playing full sets of old and new material, Sunday at Hyde Park will be a truly fantastic day.
